Clinically, as a fully registered clinician in the UK, Dr Tan completed his comprehensive 10-year surgical training entirely in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He is currently a consultant ENT surgeon, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, which is the top surgical qualification in the commonwealth countries.

学术上👩🏿🎤，长期从事耳鼻喉头颈外科的临床和基础研究，以及例如人工耳蜗等生物材料、生物技术📏、生物医学工程等交叉学科的研究，并主持了欧盟的国家级课题。归国后，主持了多个省部级课题和一项国自然面上项目，获得了2个科研人才计划，并于国际著名期刊发表了30余篇含影响因子40分以上的SCI文章🧔。申请国家专利1项。荣获顺盈娱乐全英文讲课比赛特等奖。
Academically, Professor Tan has been heavily involved in the clinical and basic science research in otorhinolaryngology and head & neck surgery. He also devoted himself to conducting interdisciplinary research, such as biomaterial, biotechnology, and biomedical engineering, with copious translational success.
Upon return to Shanghai, Dr Tan is employed as a registered foreign expert. Research-wise, Professor Tan is hosting several research projects, and has published a dozen of papers with high impact factors in prestigious journals. Teaching-wise, Professor Tan is mentoring undergraduates, postgraduates, and qualified doctors of Tongji University. As a result of extraordinary performance, he recently received few talent awards.
